Part A governs the use of the free tool and the API. Part B governs the sale of the 29 EUR geo-risk PDF report. BOMShield is a service for professional users.

A professional service, delivered digitally. BOMShield is intended for use by businesses and professionals in the course of their activity, not by consumers. The report is digital content delivered as soon as payment is confirmed. Part A below sets out what you may and may not do with the free tool and the API; part B sets out the sale of the paid report, including when we refund.
Part A — Using BOMShield

Scope, acceptance and changes

  • These terms cover both the use of the service (on-screen tool, API) and the sale of the PDF report. They form the whole agreement between you and Genesis Retrotech on that subject.
  • Using the service means accepting them. Buying a report requires an express acceptance, by ticking a box before payment.
  • We may amend these terms. The applicable version is the one displayed at the time of your use or, for a purchase, the one recorded with your consent at the time of the order.
  • The version date is shown above and stored with every purchase, so you can always tell which text you agreed to.

Who this service is for

  • BOMShield is intended exclusively for professional use, by legal entities or by individuals acting within the scope of a business, industrial or research activity. It is not aimed at consumers.
  • By using the service or ordering a report, you declare that you are acting in the course of your professional activity and that you have authority to bind the entity concerned.
  • Ordering a report requires you to identify that entity by its legal name. It is recorded, timestamped, together with your consent and before payment, and it appears on the payment session.
  • You must be at least 18 years old and have legal capacity to contract.
  • Because the service is provided business-to-business, the provisions of the French Consumer Code reserved to consumers, in particular the right of withdrawal and consumer mediation, are not intended to apply. See part B on withdrawal.

The free tool and the API: what you may and may not do

The on-screen tool is free, unlimited and requires no account: there is no cap on the number of BOMs you analyse in the course of normal human use. The REST API is accessed with a key, within the quotas of your plan. Technical rate limits exist to protect the service against automation and abuse, not as a usage quota on the free tool.

  • You are granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable right of use, for your own internal needs: analysing the bills of materials of your own projects or those of your clients within an engineering engagement.
  • You must not circumvent quotas or rate limits, in particular by rotating IP addresses, multiplying API keys or automating the interface.
  • You must not extract, scrape or systematically reconstitute our manufacturer footprint atlas, our country data or our scores, whether to build a competing database or for any other purpose.
  • You must not resell, sublicense or make the service available to third parties, nor operate it as a service of your own, without our prior written agreement.
  • You must not reverse-engineer the scoring model, nor attempt to access, alter or disrupt the infrastructure, the data or other users' analyses.
  • You must not submit a bill of materials you are not entitled to disclose, nor use the service for an unlawful or fraudulent purpose.
  • An API key is personal to its holder. You are responsible for keeping it confidential and for everything done with it.

Availability and evolution

  • We make our best efforts to keep the service available, without any contractual guarantee of availability and with no service level agreement. Maintenance, incidents and third-party outages can interrupt it.
  • The service evolves: sources, weightings and the atlas are updated. Two analyses of the same BOM run on different dates can therefore give different scores. That is the intended behaviour, not an error.
  • A free feature may be changed or withdrawn without notice. A paid feature is not withdrawn without reasonable notice.

Intellectual property and use of your data

  • Your bill of materials stays yours. You grant us only the technical licence needed to run the service on it: parsing, scoring and generating your report. That licence is limited to the processing and ends with it.
  • Your data is never used to train any model. The scoring is deterministic and rule-based; no large language model is involved in producing a score, and no BOM content is sent to an AI provider.
  • The report you buy may be used, stored, printed and circulated freely inside your organisation, and passed on to your clients, prime contractors, auditors or insurers as part of your activity. It may not be resold, republished as a product of your own, nor stripped of its source and methodology mentions.
  • The scoring model, the manufacturer footprint atlas, the report templates, the name BOMShield, the logo and the site remain the exclusive property of Genesis Retrotech. Nothing here transfers any intellectual property right in them.

Suspension for misuse

  • If you breach the rules above, we may restrict, suspend or block access from your IP address or API key.
  • Blocking is immediate in case of manifest abuse, security attack or conduct threatening the service. Otherwise it follows a written notice left without effect for 7 days.
  • A block gives no right to compensation. Reports already paid for remain downloadable within their quota.
Part B — Buying the report

What you are buying

  • A one-off geopolitical risk PDF report generated from the bill of materials you submit: overall grade, five geo sub-scores, chokepoint exposure, sanctions flags, a prioritised action plan, component annexes and methodology.
  • The report is built from public data sources (OFAC, EU, BIS, UCDP, EIA, maritime status) as dated in the report itself, plus our manufacturer footprint atlas.
  • It is a screening aid. It is not legal advice, not export-compliance certification, not part-level ITAR/EAR classification, and it does not state the confirmed origin of a specific part.
  • The on-screen tool remains free and unlimited. Only the PDF report is paid for.

Price and VAT

  • 29 EUR per report, VAT included, one-time payment. No subscription, no automatic renewal. At the French rate of 20%, that is 24.17 EUR excluding VAT.
  • The price is tax-inclusive: VAT is calculated at checkout by Stripe Tax according to your billing country and is contained within the 29 EUR, not added to it.
  • Business buyers in the EU outside France: entering a valid VAT number triggers the reverse charge. No VAT is then invoiced and the amount charged is the amount excluding VAT.
  • Your card statement will show BOMSHIELD.
  • Payment is due in full before delivery. There is no credit, no instalment and no purchase order process at this price point.

Delivery

  • Delivery is immediate and digital: the download starts as soon as the payment is confirmed, on the page you are returned to.
  • The link is tied to your payment session and allows up to 5 downloads within 24 hours, so a network failure or a refresh is never a lost purchase.
  • No physical medium is shipped. If the download fails, email us and we resend the report.

Professional buyers and the right of withdrawal

The service is supplied to professionals, as stated in part A. The right of withdrawal under the French Consumer Code is a consumer right: it does not apply to a purchase made by a business within the scope of its activity, which is the only use case BOMShield is offered for.

  • Before payment, the checkout collects the legal name of the ordering entity and, as a precaution, two express statements: that you accept these terms, and that you request immediate performance and waive any right of withdrawal you might hold.
  • Should a buyer nonetheless qualify as a consumer, that waiver removes the right of withdrawal once the download has started, in accordance with article L221-28, 13° of the French Consumer Code (transposing directive 2011/83/EU).
  • If payment was made but the download has not started, the waiver has not taken effect.
  • Your consent is timestamped and stored with the version of this text you accepted, and it is also recorded on the payment session. You can ask us for a copy at any time.
  • The order confirmation, including this waiver, is sent to you by email as a durable medium.

Refund policy

What the law allows us to rely on is not how we intend to behave.

  • Within 14 days of purchase we refund the 29 EUR in full, as a commercial gesture and without arguing, if the report contains a factual error in the underlying data, if it is technically unusable, or if delivery failed.
  • Write to selisabeth@genesis-retrotech.fr with your order reference and what is wrong. We answer within 5 business days.
  • Disagreeing with the risk assessment itself is not, on its own, a factual error: the model and its weightings are published on the Methodology page so you can judge them before buying. We will still read your argument, and if you are right the model gets corrected.
  • Refunds are issued to the original payment method via Stripe.

Liability

  • Both the free tool and the paid report are an obligation of means, based on public data whose accuracy and update dates are stated in the report.
  • Sourcing, purchasing and compliance decisions remain yours. We cannot be held liable for indirect loss: loss of production, of margin, of contract, of opportunity, of data or of reputation.
  • Where our liability is established for a purchase, it is limited to the amount actually paid for the report concerned and, over any rolling 12-month period, to the total amount you paid us during those 12 months.
  • For the free tool and the free API tier, no sum having been paid, our liability is excluded to the fullest extent permitted by law.
  • We are not liable for force majeure within the meaning of article 1218 of the French Civil Code, nor for failures attributable to third-party providers (Render, Stripe, Nexar, upstream data publishers).
  • Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, in particular in case of wilful misconduct or gross negligence.

Data and confidentiality

  • By default your BOM is parsed in memory and never written to disk. It is stored only if you explicitly enable analysis history, and it is then kept until you delete it. Full detail on the Security & data page.
  • For a purchase we keep, as required by law and for accounting: the payment session, the email address, the timestamped consent and the download counter.
  • Genesis Retrotech is the data controller. Legal bases, retention periods, recipients and your rights are set out in our Privacy policy; erasure is self-service through the Purge button.
  • Do not upload classified, export-controlled or contractually confidential BOMs. For sensitive industrial use, ask us about a private or on-premise deployment.

Law and disputes

  • These terms are governed by French law.
  • Any complaint should first be sent to selisabeth@genesis-retrotech.fr. We answer within 5 business days and both parties undertake to seek an amicable solution.
  • Failing an agreement within 30 days, and the contract being concluded between professionals, exclusive jurisdiction is given to the courts of Nantes, France, notwithstanding plurality of defendants or third-party proceedings.
  • You may not assign these terms to a third party without our written consent. We may assign them in the context of a transfer of the business, a merger or an acquisition, subject to informing you.
